Progressive Realization
of a Worthy Goal

By Colin Dunbar

"Success is the progressive realization of a worthy goal." - Earl Nightingale

The keywords in the advice from Mr Nightingale are: progressive realization and worthy goal.

Let's look at what a worthy goal is first. To determine a worthy goal, we need to ask the question: "Why?" That is, why do I want to reach this goal? When you concentrate on answering this question; in finding the real reason for your goal, you then find a worthy goal.

The second piece of advice from Earl Nightingale, that of progressive realization becomes easier when you pursue a worthy goal.

No matter how big your goal, when you follow a step-by-step, practical approach, your goal will be reached. Consider someone doing a 3-year degree on a part-time basis. This is achieved one lesson at a time, one exam at a time. The degree will be obtained.

An important aspect to keep in mind is to always progress forward towards your goal.

The first step then is to identify a worthy goal for yourself. And this starts with asking yourself "Why?" "Why do I want to reach this goal?" Having a deep-rooted reason will enable you to progress easier towards success.

Break down your goal into doable steps - start at step 1 and move forward in the pursuit of your worthy goal.

Enjoy the Ride!
