Goal Setting Tools about Negativity: General Patton offers valuable advice

"Please understand my friend, that where you find yourself tomorrow is a function of the positive decisions and actions you take today." - Akin A. Awolaja

"You need to overcome the tug of people against you as you reach for high goals." -- Gen. George S Patton

People can have a big effect on your goal setting endeavors, and this can be one of the biggest negativity obstacles. A good strategy is to be aware of this component, before it comes your way. A sad part of humanity is to ridicule, or even judge another, and this can result in your self-confidence being eroded away.

Following General Patton's advice is a key to success, and you should make it a priority to avoid the tug of others, at all costs. Being aware of this, and that it can come your way, can enable you to build resilience against this obstacle.

You may also find that the higher your goal is, the more ridicule you will get. Stick to your path, and endeavor to avoid all forms of negativity from others.

On the other side of coin, when you reach success, you encounter another type of tugging: that of jealousy. Raise your level of awareness, and be prepared - that way you are better equipped to deal with negativity from others.

Make it your goal to...

Consciously focus on the effect of negativity from others. Make a point to always try and be in the company of positive and motivated people.
