Real People
Real Goal Setting

I first "met" Nisha at a private Forum, and as I read the story of her and her husband, I just had to get an interview - read here how this mother of 2 uses the power of goal setting to succeed.

Nisha Williams is a stay-at-home mom with 2 young boys. Discover how this web site owner uses visualization to achieve success with her goal setting.

Hello Nisha, thank you for taking the time to do this interview. I appreciate it, and I'm sure my visitors will enjoy it.

Nisha: You're most welcome, Colin.

Colin: Can you tell us a little bit about yourself.

Nisha: I am a stay at home mom of 2 little boys and I own a baby shower website.

Colin: Did you have any goals when you were in school, and what were they?

Nisha: I was very goal oriented in high school. I was involved in dance, cheerleading, pageants, singing, drama, and about anything else I could try out for.

Colin: Did you reach any of the goals you had while in school?

Nisha: Absolutely. I had the mindset that if I could dream it, I could achieve it. I worked very hard to meet my goals.

Colin: As we grow older, our dreams and goals usually change. What are your goals today? What goal have you already achieved?

Nisha: My goals are very different than I pictured growing up. My family and website are very important to me. My first goal was to stay home so I could be with my kids. I accomplished that goal before my husband and I started having kids, from hard work and a great job.

A second goal came into play when my husband started school for helicopter pilots and we realized how big the loan was going to be. I started my website to be able to help make the payments of that loan, so I could continue to stay home with my kids. I now make enough money to pay his loan payment, but my goals never stop there. I am never satisfied with just reaching a goal. I am always creating new ones to achieve.

Colin: In deciding on your goal of paying your husband's helicopter loan payments, have you made any conscious efforts for the pursuit of that goal. For example, do you have your goal/s written down? Do you visualize your goal already achieved? Or do you just "go with the flow" as they say?

Nisha: I learned the power of visualization when I competed in dance competitions. The theory was to close your eyes and imagine a flawless routine. It is very powerful they say because your subconsious does not know the difference between reality and non reality. I haven't formally sat down and done imagery for my goal. I just believe with all my heart that I will achieve it. In my mind, there is no alternative to my success.

Colin: Do you think things would have turned out differently, if you had followed a "formal" goal setting plan? Or do you feel the result would have been the same?

Nisha: Perhaps. You can believe in something all you want, but it is not until you see it that you "know" without a doubt that it will happen.

Colin: Did you encounter obstacles in working towards your goal, and if you did, how did you overcome them?

Nisha: Absolutely. My husband was not convinced that my heart was into the subject that I picked for my website. My friends and family did not believe that I could make a website. After all, I knew nothing about computers. The beginning was very hard and I had a lot to learn about websites. But I pushed through all of that, and I am so glad that I stuck with it.

Colin: Were the obstacles unexpected, or did you anticipate them, or perhaps think of possible obstacles?

Nisha: No. Almost all of the obstacles were logical ones. I knew I would have low times with my website, I knew that it would be hard and slow in the beginning, but I kept with it.

Colin: How important do you regard the support of others, like family or friends, in helping you achieve your goal?

Nisha: Well, I was out to prove myself right, so I didn't listen too much to family and friends in the beginning. Every time I saw progression on the website, I would let them know. It was not long before everyone was sold on my success.

Colin: Who is the one person that has helped or supported you the most in achieving your goal?

Nisha: My husband. He was the most skeptical, now he is the most supportive. He even purchased a website of his own.

Colin: How often do you think of your goal, and the path to achieving it?

Nisha: It is a constant thought for me. Every moment I am awake, or even alseep, I am thinking of my website and how I can make it better.

Colin: Have you ever written down your goal, or do you now have your present goal written down?

Nisha: LOL! I have notebook after notebook full of my thoughts and goals on the website. It helps to write things down, even if you don't read it again.

Colin: Do you think having your goal written down can improve the possibility of achieving it?

Nisha: By writing down a goal, it becomes reality to me. Very therapuetic.

Colin: Do you think that a coach could have helped you reach your goal easier?

Nisha: Absolutely. Everyone has low times. To have someone in your corner helping to build you up, you are able to accomplish a lot more than you would have alone.

Colin: Did you feel satisfied after achieving your goal, and did you immediately know what your next goal was? Or did you "take time out" after reaching your goal?

Nisha: Yes. There is a satisfaction involved. But I am never "satisfied" with just reaching one goal. There is always a next goal in line. It is good to have a little "party" of sorts once you reach goals, but I never give myself too much down time.

Colin: Did you, or do you, ever feel like giving up on your goal, and if so, how often?

Nisha: I've had thoughts about it here and there. But I am too stubborn to allow myself to quit.

Colin: If you did feel like giving up, what would you say was the reason?

Nisha: Not seeing the results as quickly as I wanted them. Also feeling it was too hard.

Colin: Do you feel luck played a part in you reaching your goal? If so, could you tell us in what way luck was a part?

Nisha: There is always luck in the equation. But hard work can help achieve a lot more than luck can do on it's own.

Colin: Are you satisfied with where you are, at this point in your life? If you aren't, what do you feel you want more of, or what do you still want to achieve?

Nisha: I am happy, but not satisfied. My family is healthy and I have a successful website. But I want more success. I would like to eventually replace my husband's income, so we can choose to live the life we want to live and in the place we would want to be.

Colin: If it were possible to start over today, what would you do differently?

Nisha: I would have more belief in myself, my family and my website. When you believe in yourself, you are able to achieve your goals faster.

Colin: Do you have any words of advice for my visitors?

Nisha: Never give up. Hard work and a plan can help you no matter what your goals are.

Colin: Thanks again Nisha, for taking the time to do this interview. I wish you all the best for the future, and with your baby showers site. May you experience only the best that can be.

Nisha: Thank you, Colin. I appreciate the time you took to interview me.
