13 Attributes of Success

By Dr Brian Jude
Published by Zebra Press
ISBN 1 86872 344 5
Soft cover, 135 pages

13 Attributes of Success is a great reference book, and one that can be read every now and then, as a reminder.

"By combining the input from 210 people from different walks of life, I have come up with the thirteen attributes of success. These 210 people were not just wealthy but were holistically successful in their careers, families and lives. They were balanced."

That is the criteria as given by Dr Brian Jude, in the introduction.

This is a small book, written clearly with each attribute to the point. I managed to read it in one night, which indicates how easy the material is to read.

The first attribute Dr Jude gives is Goal Orientation, and here he offers the following...

"If it can be said that there is a single attribute that is common to most successful people, it is their attention to goal setting."

He then also offers brief background information and quotes an example of not having goals; also he gives brief details on setting goals in the different areas of life. The areas include: health goals, wealth or career goals, family goals, and spiritual goals.

Dr Jude sates that "we should have short, medium, and long-term goals. That is, goals that motivate us right here and now and goals that keep us moving for many years to come."

He then closes the chapter off with practical steps on how to set your goals.

I believe this is a great little book to use as a checklist for ourselves, and determine how we measure up to being successful.

In closing, Dr Jude offers this...

"Success is not something that we are born with. Success is a progressive journey towards the realization of our own goals whatever they may be."
